The Coleman Family
We do camp as a family... and camp is ALL we do!
For more than 25 years, the Colemans have been dedicated to enriching children’s lives through the camp experience. Our expertise in working with children is overshadowed only by our passion for what we do!
We’re a REAL family that eats, sleeps, and breathes camp! Coleman Family Camps is at our core and very appropriately named. While each of us is expert in specific areas, collectively we are a team possessing a complementary skill set that we feel is unmatched in the field of summer camp. We create a real family feeling at camp - with our special brand of fun, warmth, encouragement, and learning.
Marla and George founded Coleman Country Day Camp in 1982. In 2001, they purchased Camp Echo, a sleep-away camp, which they passed on to another family just recently. Their children, Jordan and Ross, grew up through the ranks and have summer camp in their veins – first as campers, then as camp counselors, supervisors, and directors. At an American Camp Association workshop, Jordan met Jessica, already a camp professional, and they were married.

Currently, George is the CEO of Coleman Family Camps, the umbrella for all camp enterprises. Marla, who directed Camp Echo along with Jessica’s assistance, presently is a parent liaison and staff trainer. As the past president of the American Camp Association, she remains active in the camp field nationally. Ross is the director of Coleman Country. Jordan is a consultant to the family. Jessica is a board member of the New York Section of the American Camp Association. We are hands-on leaders:
- always involved
- always available
- always collaborative
